Reggio Calabria is an underrated gateway to southern Italy. Relax by the sea, eat seafood at local restaurants and take day trips to Sicily at under £40 in July – definitely an opportunity you shouldn’t miss. Tenerife is always a good idea, but especially at £49 return including a 10kg cabin suitcase! Apart from enjoying its beaches, I definitely recommend visiting the island’s Teide volcano, and its characteristic coastal villages. Madeira, nicknamed “the Hawaii of Europe” is also unmissable at £74 return including a cabin suitcase. This beautiful island is perfect to go hiking, enjoy the views, and visit Funchal’s old town.
Manila is the perfect starting point for some of Asia’s best tropical islands. It has that chaotic city vibe with an incredible food scene and waterfront areas, combined with the charming Intramuros old town – definitely an underrated capital. Lastly, my favourite: Seoul. It’s one of Asia’s most dynamic cities, full of history and culture that seamlessly blends with shopping districts and futuristic skyscrapers. It’s a city I could keep going back to and not get tired of it. Personally, the one thing I would not miss is a day trip to the DMZ (the border between North and South Korea); it is mind blowing to see how the relationship of both countries has evolved over the years, and it is one activity you will never forget.
